The Coppa Allegra, sponsored by ALPINA Automobiles, took in the best that Tuscany has to offer. Combining a fabulous driving experience with extraordinary hotels, rolling landscapes and exquisite cuisine, the Coppa Allegra has it all.

The trip took us on a 5-day adventure across central Italy, through beautiful cities such as Siena and into little picturesque villages and wineries with huge cultural heritage.

Day 1

Sunday 5 June

Day one of the 2022 Coppa launches in central Munich, where drivers will convene before driving out along the German Autobahn, down through northern Italy and  to Lake Garda for lunch! From there, the Coppa will continue on to the beautiful Borgo San Felice Hotel, quintessential Tuscany at its best, nestled in the heart of Chianti Classico among vineyards and olive trees.

Day 2

Monday 6 June

Waking up in the 5-star surroundings, we will head out on the Italian roads and make for the wonderful city of Siena; famous for its cuisine, art, museums, medieval cityscape and the Palio, a horse race held twice a year. Here we will stop for lunch at the Grand Hotel Siena, and sightseeing, before continuing on in the afternoon to the magnificent Castello di Casole Hotel. Spread across 4,200 acres, this 10th-century estate is the perfect place to experience the wonders of rural Italy. In the evening, a champagne reception and black tie dinner awaits on the hotel’s glorious main terrace, with a breathtaking view of the Tuscan countryside.

Day 3

Tuesday 7 June

The ultimate culinary and driving day as we take on some of Tuscany’s most scenic roads, before stopping at the Rosewood’s Castiglion del Bosco Winery for lunch and a tour of the beautiful vineyards. Suitably nourished, the Coppa will continue on to the luxurious Le Fontanelle Hotel, so-called the Jewel of Chianti, in the late afternoon. Tucked away in the Tuscan hillside, Le Fontanelle is a thirteenth century estate with over 640 acres of enchanting gardens.

Day 4

Wednesday 8 June

On Day 4, we head to the beautiful La Braccesca wine estate. A tour of the cellar is followed by a cooking class, where guests will make fresh pasta and Italian dessert whilst sampling the estate’s wines. From there, we drive 90 minutes to our final pitstop, the spectacular Villa Cora on the hills overlooking the historical center of Florence. The villa is an aristocratic residence built at the end of the XIX century upon commission by Baron Oppenheim reflecting the architectural styles of that period.

Day 5

Thursday 9 June

On our final day, we head to Castello di Nipozzano, a 1,000-year-old castle initially built to guard Florence. Nowadays, the castle is renowned for its fantastic wine and olive oil production. The visit will include a tour of the monumental cellars used to age Chianti Rùfina, the higher altitude appellation in the Chianti area, before concluding the Coppa with a 4-course lunch and wine pairing.

From there, we leave you to explore the rest of Italy as we head home to Munich to plan Coppa Allegra 2023!
